How to use Bio Clip

Bio Clip is easy to use. You do not need any specialist training. All you have to do is put the Bio Clip finger clip on the finger of the person to be tested. The straight-forward software will then guide you through the programme and will automatically provide you with the results. It really is that straight forward. It’s amazing to think that such an easy to perform test can provide you with such invaluable information.

In order to obtain good quality data, the following simple rules should be adopted as a testing protocol:

  • Wherever possible testing should always be carried out in the same controlled environment or, if this is not possible, then the testing environment should be free from noise and any draughts, with the temperature set at the same level and as controlled as possible
  • The person to be tested should be warm. If their hands are cold, they should be warmed up if possible prior to testing. Dark nail varnish should be removed although if this is not possible, then the finger clip should be placed across the finger rather than over the end of it
  • Testing should not take place immediately following the person sitting down. They should be given around 15mins to stabilise and in addition they should not be tested immediately after a heavy meal. Excessive exercise, alcohol, smoking and caffeine should all be kept to a minimum in the 24 hours prior to testing
  • Ideally the test should be carried out with the person to be tested resting semi-supine on a couch with their testing arm resting at their side on the couch with no weight on the finger clip. The finger clip itself should (whenever possible) be attached to the index finger. If the person to be tested can’t lie back on a couch, then sitting upright in a relaxed but upright position with their testing arm resting on a table is also acceptable. The test subject’s legs must not be crossed
  • If the signal quality is poor the finger clip can be put on another finger or even the thumb. As a last resort, the finger clip can be placed across the thumb.

It should also be remembered that measuring SI and RI is as sensitive as measuring blood pressure so the same care and precautions that you would use in taking blood pressure measurements should be employed when measuring SI and RI.

If these easy steps are followed, then good quality data should be obtained.
